What do I need?
Photographs

Ideally I would prefer high quality images however I am more than happy to receive multiple images and we can decide together which images will be best for capturing the true likeness of your pet.
The higher the quality of the image the better able I am to create the most life-like drawing. I will rely on this photograph to capture the fine detail of your pet such as their eyes, coat markings and expressions.

Here are some tips to help you capture/provide the best image;

Photograph your pet outside in natural light or in naturally well lit rooms.
Direct, bright sunlight can result in overexposed images so its best to take pictures on cloudier/overcast days.
Try to avoid images in which shadows are cast on your pet.
Try to capture an image that tells the story of your pet. Some of my customers have told me that these include; puppy dog eyes, toys, messy fur. Anything that will help capture the essence of your companion.
I find that images in which your pet is looking at the camera are often the most effective but this can be discussed if you would like something else.
Try to fill the cameras view-finder with your pet to maximise the images potential.
Take or provide more than one image.

A brief prose about your companion

I find that knowing a little about your companion helps me to connect with the portrait that I am creating and ensures that I can translate the essence of your companion into a life-like portrait.

Tell me a little bit about the story surrounding the photo (was it taken in the park just before you threw the tennis ball, was it as your pet woke up from a nap in the sun or had your pet just done something mischievous?).
Tell me about your pets personality (are they playful, protective, strong-willed, clever or not so, leader of the pack, submissive, loving). Tell me what makes your pet unique and special to you.
Tell me if there is anything specific about your pet that you would like me to capture. This can be a coat marking that is particularly unique or a look in your companions eyes that is particularly poignant.

Just send an email to petportraitsbysean@gmail.com with the image/(s) and the prose about your pet and we can take it from there. Alternatively, if you want to know more or have if you have an unanswered question please feel free to get in touch ...
